Busy Busy Busy

Two weeks ago I left off reading supernatural books to read I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. It was amazingly good. I absolutely loved it. It had that romantic flare and fantastic humor that Kinsella is such a master of. Since then I've been a bit busy and haven't had a lot of time to read. Last weekend of course was dedicated to spending some time with the Husband and going to see Hunger Games which was SO good. I was pleased with the movie even though it did deviate at times from the book. It is an excellent read and has become a really good movie. So on to the books of the last two weeks.

As I mentioned in the last post, I had read Blood Like Poison: For the Love of a Vampire. I also said that I wasn't going to get the next two books, but of course I did. So having read the second and and third books Blood Like Poison: Destined for a Vampire and Blood Like Poison: To Kill an Angel. They were both very good as well. As I said before, the series reminded me of the TV series "Vampire Diaries."

After I finished reading those books I moved on the reading Wrath the latest book in the New Species Series by Laurann Dohner.

This series is a really interesting idea because it is about a new species of human and animal mix that was created by a secret lab that was funded by the government. It tells the story of adapting, overcoming adversity and finding a place and love in the world. Of course there is a fair amount of graphic stuff happening in the books. But they are good.

The next book I started was a 4 book compilation called The Big Bad Wolf Romance Compilation. I'm only through the first half of the second book but so far it is really good. As you can probably tell from the name, it is a werewolf romance series. Good books.

Alrighty... now it is time to head to bed. Hopefully next week I will have more time to write more. Basically I just wanted to give you a little rundown of what I was currently reading.

My Weekly Fix

So... Since my last post I've really been engulfed in some great reads. It seems like the books I have been reading this week are books that really pulled me in to the story and I wish they had sequels but as of right now, they didn't have sequels available on the Kindle. It is really annoying to me sometimes when I get so into a story line and then it just drops off because obviously another book is coming. At the same time, I know that you have to wait for a great story to be developed in full and not complain. I suppose I am just an impatient reader. Maybe if I didn't read so quickly then I wouldn't be left salivating for the next installment.

So let's get down to business. This week so far I have read only a couple of supernatural books. Tonight I had to step away from my preferred paranormal romance (what can I say I am a sucker for a blood sucker) in order to start the new Sophie Kinsella book. "I've Got Your Number"

http://www.amazon.com/Ive-Got-Your-Number-ebook/dp/B005723JSQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1331697073&sr=1-1

But hey, no complaints there because Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite authors of all time. No one handles humor quite like her. She writes with a very sarcastic English sense of humor which I have come to love thanks to my very English husband. Even though she does write with a strongly English humor (or shall I say humour since I am speaking about English... lol) American audiences will enjoy the humor too. If you haven't read any of her work, I STRONGLY recommend "The Shopaholic" series. It is HILARIOUS!!!!! And if you have seen the movie- let me just say it does the book ABSOLUTELY NO JUSTICE AT ALL!!! This book is a must read for anyone who loves to shop, love, or laugh. And let's face it, there is a little shopaholic in all of us so I am sure you will enjoy it.

Book 1- Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-of-a-Shopaholic-ebook/dp/B000FBFN0Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1331696896&sr=1-1

But now back to this weeks reading... I finished reading "Bridger" by Megan Curd.
http://www.amazon.com/Bridger-ebook/dp/B0054EQ99I/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1331694233&sr=1-3

For an author who didn't really set out to be an author, it was a really good book. There were times in the book where it presented an interesting conflict but everything was resolved nicely in each instance. The end of the book really left me feeling like the next book would be fantastic. Then I went to look for the next book and found that there was so second book. I was a little sad over that and will eagerly await the next book. There is one other thing to say for this book as well. With a price of 99 cents for the Kindle on Amazon, this book was a steal.

The second book of the week was "Shadows of the Soul" by Angelique Armae
http://www.amazon.com/Shadows-of-the-Soul-ebook/dp/B003P9X6HC/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1331694774&sr=1-1

This book was really REALLY good. I loved the characters and the plot was so deliciously enticing. With such a wide range of characters from Angels, to Demon Slayers (Scholars as they are so ironically called in this book), Fallen Angels, Humans, Ghosts, and even Vampires, this book just couldn't go wrong. Well actually it could have gone wrong in a lot of places but the story was so well written that it pulled me from page to page. It was a book I had a very hard time putting down. One thing about this book that I really enjoyed was the way the story was developed. Most readers of the genre will probably figure out a key surprising fact in the book pretty early, but if you don't catch on early or even if you do, the story still draws you in and you just can't wait for the next page. It is a very romantic novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The next book of the week was "Blood Like Poison: For the Love of a Vampire" by M. Leighton.

If you like the Vampire Diaries series on TV, you will probably like this book. It is kind of bad of me to say that I have never actually read the Vampire Diary books( although I have heard good things about them) so I can't compare it to those books. I will say though that the characters in this book remind me so much of Stefan and Elena in the TV series that I have a hard time imagining that other people wouldn't see the similarities as well. Anyway, this was the first book in the series and again for only 99 cents, I just couldn't pass it up. (Although it is probably one I got for free as I do love getting books for free when they are available.) Right now the next two books in the series are available on the Kindle for only 2.99 a book but since I was going to be reading the new Sophie Kinsella book, I am putting off buying them.

Besides that, with exactly 400 books on my Kindle right now, I am sure I have plenty to read. I've probably read half of that 400 but with even 200 books to read already, I probably don't need to BUY anymore books right now. That said, I do want to remind everyone that there are a couple notable books coming out in the next few weeks.

Wanted: Undead or Alive by Kerrelyn Sparks (from the Love at Stake Series)

Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward (from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series)

Before I go, I do want to leave this little pearl of wisdom for all my fellow book fiends out there trying to read on a budget, you absolutely have to check out http://www.pixelofink.com/ (a blog that gives a listing of books that are as they call them bargain books or freebies of the day) This is THE place to go if you want to find the cheapest (often free) books from Amazon. Since signing up for the daily email, I have downloaded over 60 books completely free, and many of those have been great reads. Of course, many of those I have yet to read but am eagerly working my way through the list. The catch to it is catching the freebies while they are still free as many times the books are free only for the day or even just for a few hours in a day. Still that little gem is a gold mine of wonderful reads.

Well that's about it for now. Be sure to check out some of these books. And as always if there is something you'd like to pick my brain about or something you think I should read, be sure to let me know. I'm always game for reading a book to tell you what I think of it as long as I can afford it at the time. With a book addiction like mine, I have to ration my "book money" to make it stretch as far as I can. But there is, of course, always the library, it just might take a little bit of time for me to get the book if there is a wait list.

The Basics...

Basically my goal here is to keep up with the books I have read and am reading currently. As someone who reads upwards of 5 to 7 books a week, there are many times when people ask me if I have read a certain book and what I thought of it. I figured one of the easiest ways to keep track of my reads would be to make a blog. So if you have any suggestions of books that I should read, feel free to let me know. I'm always willing to give a book a look.

So now for the most recent books on my "have read" list:

Promise (Soul Savers Series) by Kristie Cook

Genesis: A Soul Savers Novella by Kristie Cook

Veiled by S.B. Niccum

Want to know a bit about these books?

The Soul Saver Series is basically a good versus evil supernatural romance series. It has some serious religious elements but it also has a lot of different supernatural characters. All in all a very good series.

Veiled is the first book in what I hope will be a very good series. The first book has a very different spin on the story of creation in the Bible. It does create a great story line and I can't wait to read the next book.

I'm sure I'll be reading more this week so check back tomorrow to see if I am reading anything new that might interest you. :)
